Elected Officials: What Is TRUST?

Why should anyone be willing to listen, believe in, and support, any elected official, until/ unless, that individual, earns their trust, and, thus, earns their backing, and belief? Today, more than ever, there appears to be a true dearth of genuine leadership, and rarely, do we come across a politician and/ or elected official, who puts the best interests of his constituents, ahead of his own self – interest, personal agenda, or politics! Political fact – checking, websites, have indicated, for example, that not one day has gone by, since President Trump assumed office, where he avoided telling lies, or making misleading statements! This article will, therefore, briefly examine this trend, and why, it seems, so few elected officials, know, care, or gain the TRUST of their constituents.

1. Truthful; tactics; anti – Trump: There is little doubt, the United States, has never witnessed any elected official, and especially, President, like Donald Trump. Few have a balanced perspective of him, and most fall into one of the two categories: wildly enthusiastic supporters; or don’t believe a word he says. Sadly, his approach, while perhaps, the antithesis to honest, attracts a core set of followers, which believe him, when he claims, what others state, if it disagrees with him, as Fake facts. Don’t taxpayers deserve truthful leadership, and tactics based on quality solutions, rather than politics, and rhetoric – based popularity?

2. Relevant; reliable; responsive: Rather than rhetoric and empty promises, without viable solutions, wouldn’t we be, better served, if these elected officials, provided true, relevant leadership, focus and direction? How can anything be considered meaningful, unless it consistently provides reliable strategies and approaches, where ramifications are carefully considered and evaluated? Empty promises is not being responsive to needs, but, merely, politics, as usual!

3. Useful; usable; urge: How can anyone motivate others, and earn their trust, unless he is willing to take a stand, speak out (rather than straddle the fence), and urge constituents, to seek common ground and a meeting of the minds, for the best interests of the country? Select leaders who provide useful ideas and direction, and provide programs, plans and solutions, which are usable, and realistic!

4. Strengthening; sustainable system: We need, and deserve elected officials, who focus on strengthening all of us, and avoiding populist, band – aid solutions! Unless their intent is to provide the finest, sustainable system, available, why should you ever trust them?

5. Timely: When Trump ran for President, he became popular, by focusing on blaming and complaining, rather than presenting viable solutions! It is the measure of a reliable leader, to provide and introduce timely solutions, rather than empty rhetoric!

Avoid electing anyone who doesn’t gain your TRUST! America deserves better than we’re receiving!
